Synopsis for Barker: "The Curse of Ali Ben Riff Raff"

The crew sees a newspaper story of a Middle Eastern ruler looking for an escaped woman from his harem, who happens to be a new belly dancer the circus picked up. The Barker tries to get her to leave to avoid any trouble, but the sheik comes looking for her and curses the circus until they give his runaway wife back. Two animals die and a trapeze artist falls during his act and almost dies. Colonel Lane goes to pay off the sheik, but the Barker finds the dancer still hiding out at the circus, under the protection of Tiny, Midge, and Spuda, who thought they were harboring a helpless damsel in distress. The Barker figures out she's no runaway: she was the sheik's inside man, pretending a collection of poisons were actually exotic perfumes to kill circus members to make it seem as if they were genuinely cursed.

Synopsis for Steve Wood: "The Ship That Ate Men"

Steve Wood, waterfront detective, and his secretary Sally are walking by the wharf when he sees a tugboat sailing through that he doesn't recognize. That greatly perplexes someone as familiar with the waterfront as Steve prides himself on being. Inspector Flanagan informs Steve about the pirate named Charon, in case he hears something about the villain. Right then somebody tries to shoot Steve from above. He goes off to talk to an old sailor who confirms that mysterious tugboat is one he's never seen either, prompting the waterfront detective to go to where it's moored and try to board it in secret to find out what its deal is.

The tug pulls away suddenly, almost drowning Steve, but he manages to get aboard where he finds Charon's the captain of this ship, and what the pirate's racket is: smuggling escaped convicts out of the country in his tugboat that's actually a camouflaged submarine. Charon proves to be unafraid of Steve's gun. No-one else can steer the sub, he points out. Steve manages to scare Charon with the threat of a lingering death by dumping the sub's oxygen supply, and Charon surrenders.
