Synopsis for Barker: "Leo, the Lion Man"

A man with a lion on a leash sees a billboard for the Lane Circus's lion-taming act, and comes up to Colonel Lane and asks to join the show, for whatever he thinks they're worth. Leo and his lion Nero draw big crowds but are as savage as they look and almost cause a few fights with the other performers. Later he confronts Guido, the lion tamer, and reminds him about the expedition to Africa where Guido abandoned the rest of his team. All of them died...all except one, who befriended a lion and is back to settle the score. A roustabout heard the story and blackmails Guido for his silence, but is attacked by a lion and killed. This brings the Barker and the rest of his pals running, but Barker realizes it couldn't have been Nero, whose claws have been clipped. He finds a pair of lion gloves with bloody claws in Guido's stuff, and actually being attacked by Nero the lion gets Guido to confess. Having gotten his revenge, Leo and his lion are heading back to Africa.

Synopsis for Steve Wood: "The Hunk Warwell Case"

The ship Faraday sails into port, and Steve Wood proves to know exactly how long down to the day since it sailed, as that was the day Hunk Warwell was murdered by person or persons unknown. One sailor goes ashore without even collecting his pay, to bail out a low-level crook named Fuzz Forry. Once outside the police station, the sailor reveals he's Hunk Warwell, and kills Fuzzy. Next he goes to pay a visit to another former compatriot, the wealthy Joss Licky, who Warwell knifes in the heart before shoving him out the window of his high-rise apartment.

Inspector Flanagan and Steve Wood are both soon on hand to inspect Licky's corpse. The Faraday's ship's doctor comes up to the lawmen and tells them and Warwell's former moll, Libra, that he let slip he'd be back to get revenge on all three of them for trying to kill him. Steve tells Flanagan they need to hurry off to catch up to Hunk Warwell, while the doctor and the girls go to the police precinct for safety. He actually tells Sally to take them to her apartment, and slips away from Flanagan when the inspector's looking the other way.

At Sally's place, Libra realizes the doctor looks just like Hunk Warwell, who says he loved her once but two years of nurturing his grudge has taken care of that. Fortunately Steve sneaks in through the dumbwaiter and knocks Warwell out just in time for Flanagan to come collect him.
