Synopsis for The Barker: "The Barker Outspiels Spellbinder Smith!"

Spellbinder Smith, politician recently voted out of office, chances upon the Lane Circus and offers to use his speechifying talents for their benefit. However, he promises harm if they deny him a position in their operation. When Lane tells him they're not hiring, Smith shows what he means by riling up the crowd during the lion-taming act for the commodification of cruelty to animals. When a man's bitten and Lane has to pay restitution, he agrees to hire Smith for fear of another incident. Smith isn't actually there to interest the crowd in the attractions of their circus; instead, he uses his audience to launch into reelection speeches. Hearing where Smith hails from in the course of his grandiose speech, the Barker calls the sheriff's department, and the lawman and his posse show up to arrest Spellbinder Smith for robbing the county blind during his political career there.
