Upstairs, Nadir confers with Ellsworth. The "Pearl of the Bleeding Heart" has been stolen, from Ellsworth. There's one suspect: Henri Duprez, the only other man who knew of the Pearl's existence. Nadir promises Sir Thomas some quick results, then repairs to his penthouse apartment, and his private laboratory. Within was a combination of modern scientific equipment and ancient Oriental rarities of black magic. Examining the thrown knife, he finds no fingerprints, so he resorts to the teachings of his forefathers and immerses the knife in a murky liquid. Ten minutes later most of the liquid has dissolved away. Nadir removes a large ring from the second finger of his left hand. Synopsis for Captain Jim of the Texas Rangers: "The Train Robbery, Part 17"

Rusty and the outlaws ride until they come to a high point from which to survey their back trail. From there they spot Bob riding toward them, and Rusty rides down to a good spot from which to bushwhack him. Bob gets lassoed and tied up, blindfolded, propped on his own horse, and soon is riding along with the gang. They ride to the basin where the stolen cattle are hidden, and Rusty opens a small sheet iron door in the canyon wall. A small storage space is there, into which they toss Bob.

Meanwhile farther back on the trail, Captain Jim, Jane, and Johnny are anxiously searching for Bob. This leads them to the trail of the outlaw gang. Captain Jim finds an envelope laying on the ground, but before he can open it, Johnny calls his attention to an approaching wildfire. The three of them gallop away from it.
