The New Genesis Device was a combat simulator built by the New Gods on New Genesis designed to test the full physical limits of subjects without actually hurting them should they fail its challenges.
History
Justice League International fought one of these that had gone rogue and begun attacking the Earth from orbit in space. They defeated it when Mister Miracle recognized it and realized he could simply walk in unharmed and shut it off.[1] It was taken by the United States military, who kept it active as a satellite. During the great Invasion they attempted to use it as a counter-measure against the Alien Alliance fleet, and it would have been piloted by Steve Trevor. However, this mission was sabotaged by Durlan spies.[2]
