Synopsis for "The Author of my Being!"
Yuga Khan arrived on Apokolips and captured Darkseid. His arrival is felt all around Apokolips, and his reign begins as Darkseid's statues crumble down to dust. His first action as ruler is to close off The Source, rendering all Mother Boxes useless.
The silence of The Source reaches New Genesis, and Commander Gideon, much against Highfather's wishes, prepares the armies to attack Apokolips.
DeSaad, pleading mercy for his selfish life, renounces his previous ruler and gives his loyalty to Yuga Khan, all in front of Darkseid. But Yuga Khan kills DeSaad in retaliation for killing his wife, Heggra. Right afterward, he sees it fitting to also kill Darkseid since he was the one who gave DeSaad the order to kill her. But the invasion of New Genesis' army demands Yuga Khan's attention, so he leaves his son's execution for later.
New Genesis' army fights the hordes of Parademons defending Apokolips. What seems to be a winning battle for New Genesis turns to Apokolips' side, as Yuga Khan destroys the entire invading army, including Commander Gideon.
Meanwhile, Orion manages to escape from his prison. Outside, he finds Jovita, who says that Yuga Khan's reign resulted even worse than Darkseid, demanding double the work of its predecessor. Orion's mission, however, is still set in killing Darkseid, and he doesn't care about Yuga Khan. So Orion runs off straight to Darkseid's citadel. Inside, he finds the captured Darkseid, who calls Orion a "maniacal idiot" for his obsession to kill him, even in this situation. Darkseid tells him that he needs to stop Yuga Khan before he destroys the universe and repeats the history of the Old Gods. But to do so, Darkseid says Orion must do an impossible thing: Orion must kill Darkseid.
