Synopsis for "More Deaths than One Must Die!"

Equipped with a device Metron gave him, Lightray sets off to resurrect Anne Flaherty on Earth. He visists the cemetery where Anne is buried, where he sees John Elliot, the drunk driver that killed her, who still shows no regret for his actions. Lightray uses the Life Rock to see into his mind, and he sees the careless life he lived, isolating himself from everyone else.

Highfather, displeased by their attitude, claims that Darkseid's powers to resurrect people is a farce. To prove it, he asks the Source Wall, and they receive the cryptic answer "THERE IS NO ANTI-LIFE... THERE IS ONLY LIFE." Orion doesn't understand the words completely, but he does enough to know he must stop Lightray from resurrecting Anne, so goes back to Earth. However, a group of Parademons sent by DeSaad intercepts him and take him away so the resurrection can proceed and they can kidnap Anne to extract the Anti-Life Equation from her mind. He brakes free from their bonds nonetheless, and he returns to Earth.

When Lightray gets near to Anne's corpse, he starts to doubt about his motives to bring her back, and even sees illusions caused by the Lige Rock that compare him to Darkseid. He throws the Rock through the window, landing near John Elliot. Still distracted by his feelings, Lightray gets struck by Dispatcher, who plans to use Metron's device to proceed with the resurrection and bring the woman to Darkseid. Orion arrives in time to stop him, but Dispatcher uses the lance to raise an army of undead and distract Orion long enough to revive Anne. But when the woman rises from her coffin, she turns to dust. Panicked by his second time failing on his task, Dispatcher escapes. However, John Elliot finds Dispatcher's gun dropped in the grass and uses it against the Apokoliptian, killing him. Lightray asks Elliot what make him suddenly care about others, Elliot he explains that the Life Rock made him see his life and all the pain he caused. He asks if it would help to say that he's sorry for killing Anne, and Lightray responds that it doesn't, but it's a start.
