- Trouble with you, Orion, is you think every contact with another being is a battle to the death.
New Gods (Volume 3) #6 is an issue of the series New Gods (Volume 3) with a cover date of July, 1989.
Synopsis for "People too Stupid to Die!"
Millions of years ago, the Old Gods raged war against each other, and that conflict drove them to the destruction of their world, giving birth to New Genesis and Apokolips. Some of the ruins of the Old Gods remained within the bowels of Apokolips, and the ones who survived live there in a zombie-like state, receiving the name of the Dreggs. These Dreggs roam around the ruins until something lures them to the surface of Apokolips.
Orion reflects on the destruction he caused on the renegade Bugs of New Genesis and on the words Forager said to him. Conflicted, he looks for his old friend David Lincoln for counsel. Orion saves him from an armed delinquent, but David refrains his impulses to kill the earthling, something that confuses Orion, as he can't comprehend how laws work on Earth.
On New Genesis, the fellow Council members criticize Highfather's recent actions and decisions regarding the Bug People, but Lonar sides with him. Tired of them challenging his authority, Highfather dissolves the Council and establishes himself as sole ruler of New Genesis. Lightray seeks Metron's counsel, but Metron finds him first and alerts him that Darkseid kidnaped Eve Donner. Immediately, Lightray sets off and summons Orion's help.
On Apokolips, the two Genesisians break into DeSaad's lab. Lightray rescues Eve, but Orion is carried away by the rush of battle, violently killing Darkseid's lackeys. Meanwhile, Darkseid deals with the hordes of the Dreggs invading his citadel and, seeing they have no free will or emotion at all, decides to let them roam free. Instead, he uses his Omega Beams and hits Lightray, Eve, and Orion, banishing them.
