"Closing the Ring": Darkseid brings Vykin to his lab and offers him to join his side against Highfather.

Quote1 Incredible! I was spawned out of Armagetto and the brutal regimen of Darkseid's training... but the senseless savagery of this so-called civilization never ceases to astound me. Quote2

Synopsis for "Closing the Ring"

Darkseid brings Vykin to his lab and offers him to join his side against Highfather.

On Earth, the Forever People and Takion discuss Highfather's apparent betrayal. Takion realizes that Highfather used him as a "repository." He then uses his power to imitate Highfather's ability to communicate with the Source, that responds: "go to the wall."

In New York, the kid Wes brings Metron to his Mobius Chair when Wes' father shows up and harasses him for sneaking out of the house. Barda lashes out against the abusive father, but Wes urges her to stop. Metron gets his Chair ready and teleports to the Source Wall to try to cure himself of his amnesia. Accidentally, Wes' father enters the Boom Tube with Metron. They arrive at the Source Wall, where they see Darkseid and Highfather's bodies joined to the Wall.

Elsewhere, Vykin asks Darkseid how he could be there if he had supposedly joined the Source Wall. "Darkseid" replies that he is not the real Darkseid but merely an avatar of him. Darkseid's avatar suggests that, if he is there, it means that the real Darkseid and, possibly Highfather, haven't joined the Source after all. Darkseid takes Vykin to the Source Wall, and Vykin is horrified to find familiar faces from New Genesis trapped on the Wall. Darkseid then explains that this is Highfather's doing, and he needs Vykin's help to stop this madness.

From Earth, Takion feels a disturbance on the Source and warns the Forever People that "the moment of rebirth is at hand." He teleports the group to the Source Wall, where Darkseid and Vykin are. Darkseid takes Vykin's Mother Box and breaks it into five pieces, one for each member of the Forever People. Darkseid then proceeds to explain that this was all Highfather's play, even before Darkseid kidnapped the four human possessors of the Anti-Life Equation to Apokolips.

At the Wall, Metron communicates with Highfather's statue, and he learns that Izaya caused his amnesia. Metron demands an explanation, and Highfather claims that this was all long in the making.

Suddenly, Mister Miracle and Big Barda get transported from Earth to a void where they see Darkseid and Highfather's faces merged into one. The once twin planets, New Earth and Apokolips merge, becoming two halves of the same planet.
