Synopsis for "The End of the Gods"

In the beginning, Highfather and Atinai the Pure created the celestial city of Supertown, believing its glory would last forever. Now, the corruption of The Source has polluted New Genesis, stripping Supertown of all its beauty. Hopeless, Highfather asks Atinai to build an asylum to contain insane gods, including himself.

On Apokolips, the resurrected Darkseid stands victorious over Orion's corpse, who unwillingly helped Darkseid return from the dead. However, Darkseid returns the favor and revives Orion. He then gives Orion his Mother Box and sends him to New Genesis, where Lightray is fighting the Primitives. When Orion is gone, Darkseid gloats on how he accomplished his goals to see beyond the Source and spread war on New Genesis.

Orion Boom Tubes to New Genesis and confronts Lightray. Meanwhile, Atinai finishes building the Asylum of the Gods, and Highfather locks himself in it, moved by the oracle K'zandr's warning that he would be the destroyer of the Source. When the door closes, Darkseid shows up behind Atinai, looking for help from Highfather. But Darkseid arrived too late, for Highfather's cowardice might be the downfall of the cosmos.
