Synopsis for "Sins of the Fathers"
Orion finds New Genesis plunged into chaos, with the deranged Lightray leading his armies against him. Orion battles through the outnumbering soldiers and confronts the so-called "Lord of Heaven" himself. A sudden loud voice interrupts the fight, summoning Orion with urgency.
Inside the Asylum of the Gods, Highfather succumbs to madness and witnesses a twisted version of his past. He sees Darkseid, instead of Steppenwolf, killing Avia and stealing his son. Izaya gets even more deranged and kills both Orion and Scott. The Source calls to him, but he smashes the Wall and realizes that he just fulfilled K'zandr's prophecy, which predicted Highfather would kill his children and destroy the Source.[1]
Izaya snaps out of his visions, and he encounters Darkseid and Orion outside the Asylum. Still deranged, he thinks Orion and Atinai sided with the Apokoliptian against him, but Orion helps him see reality and cures him from his madness. Orion then realizes that this was Darkseid's plan to conquer the Source all along, manipulating Orion into killing him to corrupt the Source, knowing that he might revive later. But that is in the past, for now all the gods face a common threat: S'ivaa, the Destroyer of Worlds, and only if Darkseid and Highfather work together will they be able to defeat him.
