Synopsis for "The New Guardians"
The New Guardians find a place to settle in California while they ponder what will the future bring for them. Harbinger and Jet realize that they have the same powers, so they wonder why the Guardians decided to make a carbon copy of Harbinger but still keep her in the group. Harbinger's other concern is about how the Guardians expect them to keep breeding the next step in human evolution, but she has little knowledge about human relationships, or sex, for that matter. However, Extraño, being homosexual, assures her that she can take her time to figure out what she wants to do, just as it took him years.
Meanwhile, in South Africa, Janwillem Kroef prepares to attack the New Guardians with his new pawn, the Hemo-Goblin, a carnivore man designed to kill anyone but white men. He sends the cannibal along with the Australian Piet Broem to the U.S. They follow Jet and Gloss to a disco. While Piet distracts Gloss, the Hemo-Goblin attacks and bits Jet. Together they fight the "vampire," but it gets away.
Back at their hideout, R.A.M. inspects Jet's wound, and realizes it's the same wound that appeared in Harbinger. Floro, using his connection to the Earth, learns that the Hemo-Goblin was sent by Kroef, the Chosen who betrayed them. They track the Goblin and Piet to a hotel room, and they confront the cannibal together and defeat him.
When they return to their home, they receive Tom Kalmkau who visits them to inform that the man they fought in the hotel appeared in the news, and that he died in captivity due to AIDS. Jet and Harbinger watch their wounds in horror after learning that.
