Nidhogg is serpent eternally trapped by and chewing on the roots of Yggdrasil, yearning for the day the world tree falls and it can diversify its palate with the rest of the world.
History
Diana and Ratatosk trick Nidhogg into eating the Amazon hidden inside a giant eggshell so that she can retrieve the key to Fortress Valkyrie the serpent had consumed.[1][2]
