Synopsis for "Nightwing: Rise of the Underworld"

Neron's demons return to Hell and report that Nightwing stopped them from capturing Olivia Desmond. Neron realises that Nightwing had magical help and quickly deduces that Raven is sheltering Olivia. He enlists a shapeshifter known as the "Grinning Man", currently impersonating the King of Vlatava, to find her.

On Earth Nightwing visits the magically shielded house where Olivia is staying with Raven and Beast Boy. He tells them that a body has been detected under the rubble of Titans Academy, even though all students and staff were accounted for. He and Raven head to the former site of the Academy in New York and meet up with Starfire. Starfire dives down under the rubble and retrieves the corpse of the King of Vlatava.

Nightwing autopsies the body along with an investigator from the Vlatavan embassy. He tells the investigator that the body appears to have been placed under the rubble after the building collapsed, likely within the last twenty-four hours, and has been dead for weeks even though "the King" was seen in public only two days ago. The "investigator" is revealed to be the Grinning Man, who knocks Nightwing unconscious and shapeshifts into him. Disguised as Nightwing, the Grinning Man meets up with Raven and Starfire, and follows them through a portal back to Olivia's house.
