Nightwing (Volume 4) #118 is an issue of the series Nightwing (Volume 4) with a cover date of December, 2024. It was published on October 16, 2024.
Synopsis for "Fallen Grayson, Finale"
Tony Zucco is arrested for the murder of the Graysons, but is quickly freed by a police officer whose family Heartless is holding hostage. Meanwhile, Gerald runs a diagnostic on Shelton and warns him that Blockbuster's heart is wearing out, but Shelton says he'll replace it with Nightwing's after that night.
As he knows Dick Grayson is back in town, Heartless broadcasts to the city, claiming to be Dick and announcing that he and his men will demolish Haven in one hour. While the Bat-Family search Bludhaven for the kidnapped children, Dick goes out in civilian clothes with Hayley to prove Heartless is not him. When the Heartless Army arrive at Bludhaven, a group of citizens has shown up to oppose them and the two sides briefly clash, but then Dick walks in and tells Heartless to leave. Heartless whispers that he will reveal Dick's secret identity but Dick reveals that he knows who Shelton is, and says that he has far more to lose from his secret coming out that Dick does. Suddenly he gets a call from Melinda and Babs, who tell him that the Bats have freed the kidnapped children. Dick tells the Heartless Army that their children are safe and they turn on Heartless.
Heartless flees for the docks where he has a boat waiting, and calls Gerald and tells him and Zucco to meet him there. Dick chases after him, changing into costume along the way and Hayley follows. Despite his greater speed, Heartless lets Dick keep pace with him. When they reach an overpass he jumps off it down to the docks and mocks Dick for being unable to follow him in a moment of pintless pettiness, believing the Fear Toxin is still affecting Dick. However, Dick leaps down towards the shocks Heartless and dropkicks him right in the face, knocking off his mask and breaking his teeth again.
Gerald and Zucco run in, and just as Gerald is about to shoot Dick in the head, Hayley dives in and bites him on the arm. Gerald shoots Hayley, then falls off the dock into the water and doesn't resurface. Enraged, Heartless points his gun at Zucco and says that Gerald's death is his fault as it all began with him. He says that Zucco isn't who he thought he was because he was trying to kill Dick rather than his parents. He rips out Zucco's brain, taking away Dick's chance to have Zucco face justice. Dick attacks Shelton, managing to fight evenly due to his greater skill balancing out Shelton's strength and speed. Shelton picks up a truck to hit Dick with, but then collapses as Blockbuster's heart gives out. Dick asks how he can save Shelton but Shelton says he can't, even briefly trying to kill Dick when he gets close.
dicks says that Shelton's life was meaningless, but Shelton predicts he will be remembered forever because of the things he has done. Dick tells Shelton that he will make sure nobody ever learns he was Heartless, and he will simply be one more anonymous killer; swearing that he will make sure his victims are the ones who are celebrated. Shelton dies as Dick puts his mask back on him. The next day, Dick takes Melinda to visit his parents' graves.
