Nora O'Rourke was the secretary of Christopher Smith, who was secretly the vigilante called the "Peacemaker".
History
Nora O'Rourke was born in County Cork, Ireland and later emigrated to the United States of America. She was quick to anger and would fight anyone who doubted her abilities. Eventually she became a law enforcement official with renown, gaining security clearance from the F.B.I. After hearing about the exploits of the vigilante called the "Peacemaker", she started investigating into him and learnt that one man was always present in these situations: Christopher Smith. Learning that Smith had put out advertisements for the job of his secretary, Nora intimidated all the other applicants into not traveling to his château in the Swiss Alps, so she could get the job herself.[1]
As she flew to Switzerland, a man tried to assassinate her by putting a bomb in her briefcase. Although Nora stopped him before he could do so, she received a black eye in the process. Smith was impressed by her bravado and after learning about her background, started telling her about his own so she could understand the intricacies of the job. Just then however they were targeted by an assassin, but Smith saved both of them from being shot and knocked the gunman out. Failing to come to a decision on whether to hire Nora, he invited her to dinner and later revealed to her that he was in fact the Peacemaker after she asked him about his work. He soon showed her his weapons, in addition to telling her why he did what he did and about his adventures. Nora however revealed to him that she already suspected that he was the vigilante.[1]
Smith's home was soon attacked by the supersonic bombers of Colonel Uz, who was involved in stealing weapons to sell them further and wanted to acquire his advanced arsenal. Although Smith managed to destroy his weapons and Nora was able to save herself from the knockout gas dropped by a bomber, Uz's men were able to subdue and kidnap him so he would repair their stolen weapons that had been damaged. Smith however secretly sabotaged every weapon and equipment Uz had. Nora later let herself be abducted to Uz's headquarters so she could help Smith in breaking out, and used a concentrated gas she hid in her heel on Uz once Smith started fighting his men. Uz tried to kill her but Smith arrived in time, forcing him to flee. The jet he used however malfunctioned and broke apart when he tried to use its rockets, killing him.[1]
Nora agreed to become Smith's secretary and helped him in his vigilante career as well as scientific pursuits. Smith was however soon kidnapped by Mr. Blaze, a failed magician who had gained the loyalty of beings called "lavamen", who lived inside a volcano, and wanted to use his expertise in weapons to conquer the world. After escaping from Blaze's grasp, he learnt from Nora that the quadrisonic aircraft built by him for Blaze was attacking forces of countries of North America, and couldn't be destroyed by missiles due to the heat it generated. Smith was however able to take it down with his invention called the "Absolute-Zero Generator".[2]

- This version of Nora O'Rourke, including all history and corresponding appearances, was erased from existence following the collapse of the original Multiverse in the 1985–86 Crisis on Infinite Earths event and later restored following the rebirth of the infinite Multiverse during the Dark Crisis of 2022–2023. Even though other versions of the character may have appeared, this information does not apply to those versions.
