History

In 1066, during a storm. a floating island encountered a small flotilla of Norman ships, carrying English slaves to Normandy. In the following centuries, the floating island continued to drift across the world's oceans until it became lodged on a tropical reef, somewhere between Asia and Blackhawk Island. There the shipwrecked people, and their descendants, established a feudal society, modeled after medieval Britain, with Norman lords and English serfs.

In 1957, an emergency landing brought the famous Blackhawk Squadron to this place. The ruling Norman overlords captured and imprisoned most of the team, but Andre, pretending to be Norman, was able to take off in his Lockheed F-90C, and attacked the island's fortifications. The Normans were swiftly defeated, the English slaves were freed, and English Democracy was restored in this tiny unknown bit of Britain. The Blackhawks departed, after promising to bring the outside world into contact with this new nation.

Trivia

  • The Island Federation and the United World don't necessarily exist in Earth-One history, and probably don't. Blackhawk would still have little difficulty in introducing this new island nation to his many friends among the western democracies.
