Olgrun was the first and greatest of the Old Gods.
History
When the Multiverse was young, Olgrun created worlds full of wonders, but he fell to madness and murdered his own daughter in his rage. The other Old Gods warred against him for an age and eventually defeated him, but were unable to kill him. They split his essence into seven "aspects" which they scattered across the Multiverse, each with a world built around it and cunning traps and puzzles to guard it from the unworthy. One of the aspects, the "Fire of Olgrun" was hidden in the centre of a constantly shifting city known as the Necropolis, which became the core of Warworld.[2] His crystallised blood on Warworld became the mineral known as Genesis, a powerful but unstable and dangerous source of energy.[3]
Prophecy tells that if one who is worthy finds and unites the god-aspects, then he will become the great hero he was meant to be. However, if an unworthy man does the same, then Olgrun will return and destroy all.[2]
Superman journeyed into the Necropolis and retrieved the Fire.[4] However, rather than wield it himself, he used it to resurrect Osul-Ra, a boy murdered by Mongul.[5] From this Osul-Ra gained a fraction of Olgrun's power and became known as the "Heir of Olgrun".[6]
