I'm in the small African state of Oranga, ruled by President-For-Life Ada Baba -- And I'm standing before one of Baba's top secret concentration camps, where he holds "political prisoners" --

Oranga in the 1970s was a dictatorship, ruled for six years by President-For-Life Ada Baba.
History
His regime had at least one top secret concentration camp, for its political enemies, which apparently included random swaths of the Orangan population. This was discovered and broadcast by an American television reporter, who was apparently shot dead in mid-broadcast by Orangan troops, and this in turn attracted an immediate visit from Superman and Lois Lane. President Baba had a kryptonite-powered mind-control ray-projector, and was at first able to temporarily take command of Superman. Ms Lane got thrown in a prison camp, where she found the still-alive Melba Manton, and together they organized a successful escape, then infiltrated the presidential palace, and snatched away the President's mind-controlling medallion. Shortly afterward, Baba's entire army was disarmed, and not long after that, President Baba suffered an accidental fall, in which he landed atop his own mind medallion, and was instantly reduced to mindlessness.[1]
Some years later, during the years when Haile Selaisse Frelimo was rising into power in Ogaden, Kirk DePaul worked as a mercenary in Oranga.[2]

Notes
- Oranga in the 1970s looks very much like a thinly-disguised Uganda.
- In Earth-One continuity, Lt. Col. Haile Selaisse Frelimo took over Ogaden in 1968.[4]
- In New Earth continuity, Frelimo's insurrection took place in the late 1990s.[2]
- In another parallel reality, which might not still exist, the Justice Society International opened a massive, gleaming embassy in Oranga.[5]
