Injustice: Gods Among Us: Year One

Prior to his alliance with Superman's Regime, Aquaman asserted his rule over Atlantis and the oceans. When the Kryptonian calls a worldwide cease-fire, Orin tells Superman that the peace does not extend into Aquaman's domain. To prove his power, Aquaman unleashes vast Atlantean armies onto all major cities that near the ocean. He cites the fact that the oceans constitute the majority of Earth, and that Superman's world exists within Aquaman's. In response, Superman and other members of the Justice League take the entire city of Atlantis and place it in the Sahara desert, until such time that Orin forces his armies to retreat.

Aquaman is later seen among the first meeting of the Insurgency, but his role within the group is uncertain.

Injustice: Gods Among Us

Orin, the King of Atlantis, confronts his alternate counterpart when the alternate Aquaman defeats two of [Superman's diplomats: The Flash and Shazam. They argue about the treaty that Regime Orin was prepared to sign: it would put the Atlantean army at Superman's command and effectively place Atlantis into the domain of the Regime. The two Aquamen fight, but the alternate Orin emerges as the victor. As more of the native Aquaman's soldiers arrive, he instructs them to kill his doppelganger. The alternate Orin escapes due to an intervention by Ares.

Orin later signs the treaty and leads his soldiers into Metropolis behind a massive tidal wave. The alternate Superman arrives and freezes this wave, throwing it far from the city. When Orin asks this Superman if he is "prepared to take on the full might of Atlantis?" Superman simply replies "Yes. We are," as many Amazon soldiers appear on the rooftops to combat the Atlantean army. The two armies clash, as do Orin and Kal-El. Aquaman is defeated by Superman and the Atlanteans retreat.

Aquaman IGAU Ending 0001

Victory over Superman was only the beginning of Aquaman's rise to power. Uniting the world's oceans under the banner of Atlantis, Aquaman had a controlling interest in the planet's ecology - and economy. His influence did not escape the attention of the world's multinational corporations, who looked to end his reign. Villains lured by the promise of big money to assassinate the King of Atlantis pursued him relentlessly.

But Aquaman's popularity served him well. The world's citizens rose up in anger against those who would quell Aquaman's influence. The threat abated, a groundswell of support began for a United Earth under Aquaman's command.

Aquaman Injustice 2 Epilogue

"Superman was right. Brainiac needed to die. But I couldn't stomach the idea of Kal's return to power. Atlantis would not again be his vassal. With Batman beaten and his allies imprisoned, I couldn't muster the force I needed to take Superman down.

I'd all but lost hope when my marines discovered an abandoned Insurgent base hidden in the Southern Ocean. Here, Lex Luthor had perfected his inter-universe transporter. From plans left behind, my scientists built a new device. Now I go and ask the help of those I had fought. I must also ask their forgiveness."
