Orion was the biological son of Darkseid.
History
However, he was raised by someone else, who was dedicated to spreading light, like Orion's father was to spreading darkness. His influence made Orion into a powerful ally of the light and an enemy of his father.
Orion played a key role in saving Earth from Darkseid, during one of Darkseid's earlier visits to the planet. Orion hid his bow on Earth, should his father one day return and mankind would need a weapon to vanquish him.
