Ocean Master was one of Aquaman and Aqualad's main enemies. He was a member of the Light.

Joining the Light

Orm was the younger brother of Orin and had designs on taking the Atlantean throne for himself. To achieve this goal, Orm adopted the guise of the villain Ocean Master; without his family's knowledge and became L-5 of the "Light"; in order to wrestle control of the country from his brother.

As Ocean Master, Orm employed various schemes to take the crown. During one battle against his brother, Orin, two Atlantean students, Kaldur'ahm and Garth came to Aquaman's assistance in time to foil his plans. Aquaman would subsequently make Kaldur his protege. Years after this, Orm would make another attempt to take control of Atlantis; by becoming leading a group of Atlanteans calling themselves "Purists"; who were prejudiced against Atlanteans; who did not appear human. While he pretended to be sympathetic to their cause, his true intentions were to use the Purists as his own personal army to kill Aquaman. This plan would also be foiled; by Kaldur'ahm, this time; with the help of his teammates; Superboy and Miss Martian.

Orm would eventually be revealed as Ocean Master and sent to prison; by his brother, Orin. Consequently, the Light broke all ties; with him and his role; within the Light's inner circle was taken over; by Black Manta.

Escape and Death

After escaping prison, Orm sought revenge against his brother and fellow heroes for his fall from grace. While the wives and children of various Justice League members gathered in Central City for a play-date. Orm planned to detonate a bomb that would kill all of them. Right before doing so, however, he was interrupted by Lady Shiva, the Light's new enforcer. Shiva attempted to dissuade Orm from going through with his plan, saying that the Justice League would certainly retaliate if their families were harmed. When Orm refused to back down, Shiva decapitated him.

However, his brain was placed in a clone body of Arion.
