Synopsis for Enemy Ace: "Flaming Bait!"
Hans watches as an English pilot takes out a German observation plane, then Hans dispatches him in turn. After returning to the field, Hans spends some time in the forest with the black wolf, the only friend the killing machine has. Before the next flight, a photograph wishes to take Hans' picture, but Hans is superstitious about being photographed before a flight. Erich and Werner are two pilots flying with Hans and Erich is not afraid to have his picture taken. Once the enemy is sighted, Erich requests permission to attack. Hans frets over his superstitious belief, but gives the ambitious pilot the go ahead. Unfortunately, Erich is shot down.
Back at the field, Werner blames Hans for his brother's death. In the forest, Hans asks his only friend if he should have refused to allow the picture to be taken. Seeking revenge, Werner allows the photographer to take his picture after Hans declines a second time. Hans feels guilty about Erich's death and attempts to shield Werner, which causes him to bristle. As it turns out, Werner is unlucky and struck by the flak from an AA gun.
Back at the field preparing for another run, the photographer asks him for his picture a third time, and Hans debates with himself to allow the picture to be taken otherwise all German pilots will become superstitious. Before he can say anything, Allied pilots strafe the field. Hans manages to take to the skies and destroy the attackers, and decides now is the time to take the photograph, but after landing he finds that the photographer has been the victim of bad luck this time.
