Synopsis for "Champ"

Two soldiers named Freddy and Buster had held off against Nazis from their machine gun nest. When a plane had dropped their mail, Johnny rushed towards a Nazi ammunition stash, as they noticed that his machine gun was empty. However, Johnny was still able to take down the Nazis in a fight and restock his machine gun's ammunition. Then, Johnny opened fire, as American forces charged towards the stash. After the skirmish, Johnny declared that he was going to beat the champ at the garden. However, this turned out to be all a dream. Johnny was woken up by the sound of a Nazi tank firing. Believing that he was fighting "the champ", Johnny rushed towards the tank and threw grenades at it, until it was destroyed.

Synopsis for "Second Best"

American soldier Jim Turner exposed his former college rival and Nazi spy Kurt Brunn among his ranks. As he was exposed, Brunn fired at the American soldiers and fled. Turner remembered the time Brunn had beaten him in a competition. He decided to chase him, pole vaulting over a wall, but failing to make a jump. Unable to catch up with him, Turner got on an abandoned artillery gun and pushed it down a hill, allowing him to catch up with Brunn. Brunn attempted to stab Turner with his knife, but the latter had drowned the former and emerged with the knife.

Synopsis for "A Letter From Joe"

In a truck within a convoy, Joe was writing a letter to his parents, when they were attacked by an enemy plane. The sergeant got onto a machine gun on top of the truck and shot it down. Afterwards, Joe continued writing his letter until the sergeant ordered him to scout for the convoy. Later, the convoy spotted a Nazi tank, so Joe snuck in front of the tank, covered in sand, and destroyed it with an anti-tank rifle. A few hours later, at an observation post, Joe attempted to continue writing, when they were attacked by mortars. He rushed towards the mortar crew and took them down by rolling a grenade at the last second. Then, Joe was finally able to finish his letter.

Synopsis for "Survival for Shorty"

At the southern tip of Arawa in 1943, a group of marines was sent on a mission to destroy a Japanese lookout post. A marine named "Shorty" Harrison was placed in charge of the explosives. The marines charged at a Japanese post and Shorty placed the explosives before they went off. Believing that the battle was over, they were ambushed by more Japanese soldiers, leaving only Shorty alive. At the side of a cliff, Shorty expected a submarine to pick him up, but was attacked by a Japanese soldier, causing them to stumble down. After the Japanese soldier died of wounds, Shorty realized that the water level would rise at nightfall and that he would have to hurry. When nightfall came, he had nearly drowned, but was saved by the submarine.
