The Outsiders are a superhero team mentored by Batman.

History

The Outsiders were originally a group of teenage malcontents with superpowers, founded by Katana, Black Lightning and Metamorpho, who caused rampant destruction at the behest of the Slug as a way of lashing out at the world. This brought them into conflict with Batman and Wildcat. The latter of whom related that he came from a bad situation too, but channeled his energy more positively and eventually became a costumed hero. After joining forces to defeat the Slug and escape his exploitation, the Outsiders turned over a new leaf and started apprenticing under the elder heroes.[1]

Later the trio went missing, and were discovered by Batman to have been placed in a dream simulation by Psycho-Pirate.[2]

The Outsiders fought a simulated training battle against Despero, but Batman made them repeat it because they relied too much on reckless tactics and were unconcerned with collateral damage.[3]

The Outsiders were among the many heroes taken over by Starro, and fought Firestorm out of Batman's impromptu assemblage of heroes trying to destroy the beacon meant to summon Starro to Earth. Black Lightning and Katana had updated their uniforms by then.[4]

The group showed up to help Batman battle Kobra and his minions. They had been joined in the interim by Geo-Force and Halo. It seemed the team still had trouble following Batman's leadership, because they'd forgotten to destroy the bridge to the castle where they'd been fighting Kobra, allowing an army of Kobra's minions to come charging to his rescue.[5]
