So, Crisis or Cancellation?
Outsiders (Volume 5) #6 is an issue of the series Outsiders (Volume 5) with a cover date of June, 2024. It was published on April 9, 2024.
Synopsis for "The Place Between Places"
Twelve months ago, Lucius Fox became obsessed with revealing the truth of reality, founding the Outsiders and personally recruiting Drummer to gather the data he would need. With the information Drummer got from an "extra-fictional entity" in New York, he believes he has found a way to create a map of not just the Multiverse, but the structure beyond. The Outsiders and Lucius gather at the Carrier, where Drummer feeds his program into the ship's computers. It generates a holographic model of all of reality, which looks like a snowflake. The Carrier suddenly announces "Continuity Paradox Detected" and tendrils of energy emerge from the model. The Carrier activates its self-destruct and the four are sucked into a white void which grows from the snowflake. As they fall, they see the text "LANDMARK FINAL ISSUE!"
The four of them suddenly find themselves in what appears to be a quaint Mid American town from the 1950's. The Golden Age Superman, who is now working as a mailman, cheerfully greets them. Kate asks if they are in another "narrative singularity" like Dimension Batman, and a strange elfin woman with silver hair appears behind them and says that it is, just 196,833 orders of magnitude larger. Kate asks who she is, and Drummer tells Kate that she is the Carrier. Although the Carrier has been compressed down to human form, she is still moments from detonation. Kate tries to calm her down and tells the others to secure their position but Drummer runs off, saying she has somewhere to be.
Kate guides the Carrier through breathing exercises and Lucius walks off as well. After a moment, Luke resignedly follows him, leaving Kate and the Carrier alone. Lucius walks into a diner and orders two chocolate malts from Zauriel behind the bar. Zauriel refers to them as the "recently erased" and Cave Carson, who is sat at the counter, asks if the Foxes were sent there by a "crisis or cancellation". He says that if it was a crisis they may be returning soon, or that "they" might keep them gone just to prove they can. However, if they were cancelled and left on a cliffhanger or happy ending, it could be over a decade before "market forces" result in them going back.
Luke is confused but Lucius asks what "joining the neighbourhood" entails. Carson and Zauriel both tell them it's a place of peace and rest with no fights or struggles. However Natasha Irons, who is sat with the rest of the cast of Gotham City Garage at the next table, says that it is a prison, and if they don't need to be there they should fight to get back as soon as they can. Luke notices his father appears deep in thought and asks if he is okay, but Lucius says he hasn't been okay for fourteen months. Luke asks what happened fourteen months ago and Lucius calmly replies that he had a stroke.
Meanwhile, Batwoman is able to help the Carrier work through her panic attack. The Carrier tells her that she knows the way home now, but also that there is something Kate needs to know.
Elsewhere, Drummer runs to the suburbs of the town and finds a house with the name "Snow" printed on the mailbox. Richard Dragon, who is mowing his lawn next door, tells her that the house has been empty for as long as he can remember. He advises her to go home and forget about the people who ended up in Limbo. Enraged, she pulls his mailbox out of the ground and begins smashing everything around her, which should be impossible as powers shouldn't work in Limbo.
Drummer rampages through the town until she reaches the diner. The Carrier stops her and says she can take them all back as their story hasn't ended yet. She asks them all to join hands and kisses Kate on the cheek, saying it was nice to meet her. They all teleport back to their own universe, inside the Carrier. Kate affectionately strokes one of the walls and whispers "It was nice to meet you too." Luke confronts Drummer and demands to know what just happened, but Kate tells him to stand down as he couldn't fight Drummer if he tried.
Kate tells Drummer that the Carrier recognised her and told Kate Drummer's real name. She tells Drummer to tell the truth or she will. Drummer tells the Foxes that her real name is Jakita Wagner. She takes the Planetary Guide out of her bag and says that the truth won't be easy to understand. The truth is that she hasn't just joined their story; they've always been in hers.

Notes
- Although it is not confirmed, this issue implies that the Drummer is actually a direct continuation of the original Wildstorm Universe Jakita Wagner.
- This is eventually confirmed in issue #7.
- The conversation between the Outsiders before ending up in the Comic Book Limbo is ambiguous:
- Lucius Fox seems to refer to the "Snowflake" as the Infinite Frontier itself and states that there are an infinite number of Multiverses in the Snowflake.
- Later, Drummer corrects him stating that the number of Multiverses is actually 196833.
- However, The Snowflake is actually the Wildstorm Multiverse and 196833 was the number of universes that composed it before The Flashpoint. As of the epilogue of the story, it's left unknown if the Infinite Frontier has been retconned into being snowflake-shaped and having 196833 Multiverses or it's either a mistake or a continuity error of the authors.
