Paul Ryan (b. September 23, 1949 – d.March 6, 2016) was a comic book artist.

Professional History

Paul Ryan was an American comic book and comic strip artist. He began his career in 1984 working for Americomics on the title Star Masters. Later, he was hired by Marvel Comics and began working on the title The Thing. He worked on some other titles as Iron Man, Squadron Supreme, Eternals and many more. Ater almost eleven years working solely for Marvel, in 1996 Ryan was hired by DC Comics to work on the title Superman: The Man of Tomorrow. He later worked on titles like Superboy; Flash; Batman, JLA and many more.

In later years, Ryan drew the daily comic strip The Phantom for King Features Syndicate.

Personal History

Ryan attended St. Polycarp Grammar School in Somerville, Massachusetts and graduated from St. Mary of the Annunciation High School in 1967. He graduated from the Massachusetts College of Art in 1971 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in Graphic Design.
