Synopsis for "A Whole New Whirled"

Leota Adebayo DC Extended Universe 002

Murn recruits Peacemaker

Five months after the Corto Maltese mission, Chris Smith, the vigilante "Peacemaker", was discharged from a hospital in his hometown of Evergreen, Washington after making a miraculous recovery from being shot by Bloodsport and crushed by Jotunheim's falling rubble. Chris cautiously left the hospital, shocked and overjoyed that he hadn't been apprehended and returned to Belle Reve by the authorities, and returned to his trailer, which had been abandoned for four years. Once he was back in his home, however, Chris was ambushed by mercenary Clemson Murn and his team, Project Butterfly. Murn explained to Chris that he was working for A.R.G.U.S, and introduced him to his teammates: no-nonsense field agent Emilia Harcourt, snarky tech support John Economos, and friendly but insecure agent Leota Adebayo. Murn made Chris a deal that if he joined Project Butterfly and helped them take out targets called "Butterflies", he could stay out of prison. Chris agreed, and they arranged to meet later at a restaurant that evening.

Chris then made his way to his father's house to pick up Eagly, his beloved pet bald eagle, from his father's house. He reunited with his father, Auggie Smith, a cruel and racist man who despised his son, disappointed that he wanted to kill criminals instead of just minorities in general. After giving Chris Eagly, Auggie gave him a powerful sonic blast helmet to help him in his endeavors, and Chris made his way to the restaurant as Peacemaker.

Peacemaker tries to hook up with Harcourt

At the restaurant, Peacemaker was given a mission dossier to kill Royland Goff, a United States senator believed to be a "Butterfly". He found that his rude and obnoxious nature made it hard for him to get along with most of his teammates, but Adebayo seemed to find him funny, and could see that behind his sexist, possibly racist nature, he was actually a sad individual just looking for companionship. When the team split up for the night, Peacemaker followed Harcourt to a bar and proposed sex to her, which she declined. Annoyed, Peacemaker instead hooked up with a random woman named Annie Sturphausen, and the two had sex in her apartment.

Meanwhile, in her apartment with her wife, Keeya, Adebayo spoke with her mother, Amanda Waller, over a call, and explained that she was just taking the job to make herself and Keeya financially stable again. She also started to wonder how she could possibly get along with Peacemaker, suspecting that he wasn't as bad as he seemed.

Chris sits with Eagly

Back at Annie Sturphausen's apartment, Chris was attacked by her after they had sex, and the two fought, Sturphausen displaying superhuman strength and agility. Chris dove out the apartment window onto the pavement below, and crawled over to his car, Sturphaused just behind him. When he reached the car, he put on his helmet and activated the sonic blast, causing an explosion that killed Sturphausen, totaled his car, and destroyed most of the parking lot. Chris then sat there in his underwear, catching his breath with Eagly as the cops began to arrive.
