Peacemaker in Sturphausen's apartment

Quote1 I used to think God put me here for a purpose. For peace. I know I said I didn't care how many people I needed to torture and kill to get it, but... y'know, lately I just think I'm a fuckin' maniac, like... I don't know. I'm havin'... feelings about things. Quote2

Synopsis for "Best Friends, For Never"

Christopher Smith DC Extended Universe 019

Peacemaker in Sturphausen's apartment

After catching his breath from the fight with Annie Sturphausen, Peacemaker called Harcourt to explain the situation. Realizing he had just killed a Butterfly, Harcourt got Adebayo and went to Sturphausen's apartment complex to retrieve him before the police arrived. After getting his uniform back on, Peacemaker raided Sturphausen's apartment for vinyl rock 'n roll records before the police arrived, led by Detective Sophie Song and Larry Ftizgibbon. The police raided the building, while Peacemaker held hostage the bickering couple of Amber and Evan Calcaterra to keep himself safe, all while flirting with Amber. When Harcourt and Adebayo arrived, Peacemaker narrowly escaped the police with Eagly, driving away with his teammates.

Back at Project Butterfly's headquarters, Economos switched out the registration and fingerprints of Chris' car for his father Auggie, being unable to think of anyone else in the moment. When Chris and the others returned, Economos gave him stitches while Murn and the others began speculating why Sturphausen tried to kill Peacemaker after having sex with him. Chris then realized he had left his dossier telling him to kill Royland Goff on her bed. Murn and the others berated and insulted him, but Chris retorted that he hadn't been told how important the mission was, or even what a Butterfly was. Murn sent him home while Adebayo went off to bribe the Calcaterras to finger Auggie instead of Chris.

Vigilante comforts Peacemaker

Peacemaker returned to his house where he reunited with Vigilante, an enthusiastic, sadistic crimefighter who idolized Peacemaker and acted as his closest friend aside from Eagly. After the two caught up from the four years Peacemaker had been in prison, Peacemaker admitted that he was becoming disillusioned by his role as a vigilante, and himself as a person, given how awful he was treated by his teammates for being rude and nasty all the time. Vigilante assured him it was for the greater good, and cheered him up by holding target practice with appliances with Peacemaker in a nearby forest.

Adebayo successfully bribed the Calcaterras, and Auggie was arrested, where he rejoined many of his white supremacist allies, the Aryan Empire, in prison, and they hailed him as the "White Dragon", a white supremacist supervillain who had operated for many years with the Empire but was never convicted. As Chris and Vigilante discovered a mysterious, tiny spaceship Chris had found in Annie's apartment, Auggie began plotting his escape with his racist followers.
