Penthiselea was a mighty Amazon captain who fought in the Trojan War.

She was the granddaughter of Jason, the leader of the Argonauts, and Theseus, the king of Athens, and was part of the Amazons of Bana-Mighdall. In the battle during the Trojan War, she was at the forefront, fighting the Greek columns led by Captain Eteocles, but she was killed by Achilles.[1]

  • Penthesilea is a mythical Amazon, the daughter of Ares and Otrera, and so the sister of Hippolyta, Antiope and Menalippe. Wonder Woman (Volume 2) #33 makes her parents Phthia and Melanippus, son of Theseus. In Outsiders: Five of a Kind - Wonder Woman/Grace #1, she is described as Antiope's sister, though her name is spelled "Panthesila" and "Panthesliea".
