Pepita Valdez was a matador whose father was kidnapped by Axis spies to force her to drug and steal classified information from Mint Candy.
History
Pepita was beaten and thrown down a shallow mine shaft on the border of Bar-L Ranch to appear a helpless victim. The ruse worked and she was able to draw Mint in. Unfortunately for her she fell for Mint's sense of humor, and after drugging him and getting the information to save her father's life his sister Etta found her and thought she'd tried to kill Mint. With Diana Prince's intervention Pepita is able to divulge her full story and Etta and Diana help her rescue her father and capture the Axis agents, ensuring the information does not reach its intended destination. Despite his family distrusting Pepita and Pepita herself thinking she should leave since she has caused him harm Mint asks her to wait for him to come home after the war since he loves her, and she admits tearfully that she loves him too and agrees.[1]

- This version of Pepita Valdez, including all history and corresponding appearances, was erased from existence following the collapse of the original Multiverse in the 1985–86 Crisis on Infinite Earths event and later restored following the rebirth of the infinite Multiverse during the Dark Crisis of 2022–2023.
