Pete Turner and his son stood in as Green Arrow and Speedy respectively when Oliver Queen and Roy Harper were injured.

The Turners were a famed acrobatic team who's home was looted by the villain 'Strong Man' Bond, stealing their life savings. The two sought revenge against the thugs. This came to the attention of Oliver Queen and Roy Harper, who had been left wheelchair-bound from an injury. They discovered the Turners' grudge and deeming that they resembled Queen and Harper, contacted them. Pete took up the mantle of Green Arrow while Jack took the place of Speedy. They were equipped with remote-controlled bows and arrows for Queen and Harper to aid their aim.

However, during a confrontation, Speedy's bow was damaged, preventing Queen or Harper from seeing the scene. Green Arrow and Speedy were captured and held hostage by 'Strong Man' Bond and his thugs, taking the remote-controlled bows to use in their crimes, threatening the Turners' lives if Queen and Harper fail to cooperate. Disguising himself as an old man with a cane, Queen recovered the remote-controlled bow and, with Harper controlling it remotely, stopped 'Strong Man' and his gang and rescued the Turners.

Once Queen and Harper recovered, they thanked the Turners and resumed their roles as the Green Arrow and Speedy.[1]
