Petey is a good-natured Demon who was summoned to the mortal realm by amateur occultist Joachim Hesse, and decided to stay because he didn't fit in very well in Hell.
History
Seeking out Doctor Fate as the greatest local sorcerer, he was taken in by Nabu and became the talking house-pet of Eric and Linda Strauss. They enchanted him to look like a very ugly dog so he could pass in public.[1]
