General Ph'yzzon was the supreme commander of Tamaran's armed forces during the New Citadel War.
History
Ph'yzzon and his fleet were captured by Psions. His ships were destroyed and he was experimented upon. He didn't know it at the time, but he now had "binary powers"– the ability to create energy duplicates of himself. He and his crew were rescued by Starfire. The princess had also undergone Psion experimentation in her youth, so the two bonded and fell in love. They married shortly after the second attack of the Gordanians.[1]
The Citadel renewed their efforts against Tamaran. Ph'yzzon led the defense from space, but their forces were overwhelmed. He pleaded with Myand'r to evacuate, but the king and queen chose to stay on Tamaran as a symbol of strength. They perished in its destruction.[2] Phy'zonn oversaw the evacuation of the half a million survivors and settled them on Jalascis.[1] With the Psions' true master - the corrupted Titan Raven - taken out, the war came to an end. Ph'yzzon and Koriand'r lived on Jalascis, later renamed New Tamaran, under Queen Komand'r.[3]
A Sun-Eater came to the moon refuge. Unsure what to make of the warnings of the captured messenger Dusk, Komand'r ordered her forces to attack this new threat. Ph'yzzon and his entire fleet were destroyed. New Tamaran was obliterated.[4]
Powers and Abilities
Powers
- Tamaranean Physiology: Tamareans are a race of humanoid aliens with orange skin and emerald eyes with no pupils. They also possess red hair that, while flying, emits a visible glow that makes them appear like they are on fire.
- Solar/Ultraviolet Metabolization: Tamaraneans can absorb and process stellar radiation, which provides them with incredible strength and vitality.[5]
- Flight: The absorption of stellar energy also enables Tamaraneans to defy gravity and fly without the need of artificial enhancements.[6]
- Interstellar Travel: Some of the stronger Tamaraneans are able to traverse the cosmos at light speed so long as they have copious amounts of extra-stellar energy to subside on.[7]
- Superhuman Durability: Tamaraneans are incredibly robust to all known forms of injury and abrasion. Being able to survive in the cold vacuous expanse of deep space, resist the intense surface heat of stars and traversal within reach of a Black Hole's event horizon with little irritation.[8][9]
- Superhuman Stamina
- Superhuman Speed
- Superhuman Strength: Tamareans possess higher levels of physical strength compared to humans.
- Tactile Linguistic Assimilation: All Tamaraneans possess the ability to psychophysically learn another species or ethnicity's vocabulary with little more than a simple touch or passing graze. The most effective means of doing so is usually through lip to lip oral contact with another recipient of the desired community.[citation needed]
- Flight: The absorption of stellar energy also enables Tamaraneans to defy gravity and fly without the need of artificial enhancements.[6]
- Solar/Ultraviolet Metabolization: Tamaraneans can absorb and process stellar radiation, which provides them with incredible strength and vitality.[5]
- Bio-Fission: As a result of Psion experimentation, Ph'yzonn could create multiple stellar energy "binaries" of himself.
Abilities
Weaknesses
Power Instability: The more fabrications made of his energy dupes, the more it drains his physical stamina to maintain them.
Notes
- His name appears to be based on the word “fission” as his main power is making to binary fission copies of himself.
Trivia
- Despite being Tamaranean he has some unusual features such as red skin instead of gold skin, pointed ears and white hair with a black beard while other Tamaraneans have head and facial hair that matches. It is never stated if he has these traits naturally or a result of his experimentation.
- In The New Titans Issue #130 Starfire says she is pregnant by him but whatever happened to the baby or pregnancy never comes up again. It is often assumed there was a miscarriage but this remains unconfirmed.
