Phoebus Apollo is the Greek God of the Sun, light, poetry, music and herdsmen.

He is the son of Zeus and the minor goddess Leto and twin brother of Artemis.

Apollo inherited power over the Sun from his uncle and aunt, the Titans Hyperion and Thia, after they were imprisoned in Tartarus by Zeus. The Roman god Apollo is an avatar whom the original Apollo split off from himself to secure the worship of the Latin peoples.
