Portugal is a country on the Iberian Peninsula. Located in southwestern Europe, Portugal is the westernmost country of mainland Europe and is bordered by the Atlantic Ocean to the west and south and by Spain to the north and east. The Atlantic archipelago of the Azores is also part of Portugal.
History
During the Second World War, refugees from all across Europe converged on Lisbon, capital of Portugal, the sole remaining war-neutral seaport on the continent, and all of them were frantic to obtain American visas. The black market in real and fake documents was booming. This situation made life difficult for the local police as well as for foreign secret agents.[1]
Several years ago, the terrorist Kobra threatened to destroy Lisbon with a dangerous hydrocarbon weapon. The Justice League members Aquaman, Batman, and Green Lantern fought against Kobra, and though the villain escaped, they did succeed in saving Portugal.[2]
