Quote1 I thank you for giving noble meaning to my life. It ended as it should have. But your ending is not yet written. Show the world your purpose. Go, Yara. Quote2
ā€” Potira src

Potira was one of the Amazons of Themyscira.[1]

During a battle in Themyscira between an invading male army and the combined forces of the Amazons of Themyscira and the Amazons of Bana-Mighdall, Yara Flor, the Wonder Woman, who was present in the battle, tried to save Potira's life by holding her hand on the edge of a cliff. However, one of the men appeared behind Yara to kill her, and to save her Potira released her hand in order to have the necessary impulse to launch her spear at the enemy, falling to her death.[2]

Later, even though Yara hadn't met Potira before the battle,[1] Wonder Woman traveled to the Underworld to rescue her Brazilian countrywoman from the clutches of Hades, the Greek god of the dead, with the help of her friend Caipora, who opened a portal to the other world.[3]

In the Underworld, Yara confronted the Three Judges of the Dead and the god Hades himself, but thanks to the intervention of Hades' wife, the goddess Persephone, Yara had a chance to bring Potira's soul back to the realm of the living. However, Potira's destiny was to remain in the realm of the dead, however much her savior had tried to rescue her.[2]
