Potira is one of the Brazilian Amazons known as The Esquecidas.
History
Potira was born amongst the Esquecidas and knew Yara Flor when the later was an infant. When Yara returned to Brazil, now an adult, Potia was sent to reunite her with the rest of the Esquecidas before she was recruited by Hera and the forces of Olympus. This task brought Potira into contact with Cassie Sandsmark and Artemis of Bana-Mighdall who were also seeking Yara.[1] The trio found her and Potira told Yara her mother's history with the Esquecidas, advising against joining Hera, but Yara still left for Mount Olympus.
Unsure of her success, Potira brought Cassie to meet the rest of the Esquecidas in their city of Akahim where she gathered a force of Amazons to rescue Yara with.[2] Accompanied by Cassie and Donna Troy, Potira led the attack party to the gates of Olympus, which they were able to breach with the help of Yara who was battling Hera's forces on the other side. Eventually the Amazons managed to fend off their enemy and Potira brought Yara back home to Akahim.[3]
Shortly after Yara's reintroduction into the Esquecidas, the Amazons were attacked by monstrous beasts that corrupted their forest. When the Esquecidas seer Anahi revealed the beast came from Doom's Doorway on Themyscira, Queen Gaboymila sent Potira to lead a group to Themyscira as her own health was to poor to undertake such a journey.[4]

- Potira was created by Joëlle Jones, first appearing in Future State: Wonder Woman #2. However, in the Prime Earth continuity, Potira first appeared as part of the New 52 DC Universe in Wonder Girl (Volume 3) #3 by Joëlle Jones and Adriana Melo.
