Synopsis for "Dark Knight of the Soul"

Johnny Sorrow, the mysterious supervillain that has been stalking Power Girl through telepathy, has turned all of Metropolis into a twisted reflection of his own mind. Power Girl and Omen explore the psychic illusion Johnny has trapped Metropolis into, but Power Girl suddenly realizes that Omen herself has been brainwashed, so she has to awaken her. The two girls awaken in the real world, only to find that Jon has also been put to sleep by Johnny, who reveals he has spread his Horsemen (the Pit, the Pendulum, the Piper and the Poet) through the Subtle Realms so he can conquer the entire world.

Power Girl calls the Super-Family for help but they don't return her calls, leading Power Girl to believe that something bad happened to them and suggests they should ask the Titans for help, but Omen believes they are too busy fighting Johnny's Horsemen. Power Girl blames herself for this entire mess, for she believes that if she had not left herself vulnerable to Johnny's manipulations, then he would not have been able to enact his plans. Omen tells Power Girl to stop blaming herself and to instead focus her energy into stopping Johnny.

Power Girl arrives at the Kent apartment, only to find that Conner, Kenan, Osul and Otho have also fallen victim to Johnny's telepathic assault. She flies to Kara's apartment, only to find her unsconscious. Desperate and out of options, Power Girl starts to read Kara's journey and realizes that Supergirl never actually saw Power Girl as an adversary or as competition. In fact, she saw her as an extension of her own soul and she wishes that Power Girl would stop pushing everyone away.

Unfortunately, Power Girl is so frustrated with herself that she throws the diary and goes off to find another way to stop Johnny. Ever since her Krypton was destroyed, Power Girl has been raised by her spaceship's artificial intelligence, and thus, she never had a real family. At least Kara had a long time to know Superman and his Family on a personal level, but Power Girl still feels like an outsider. She can't even bring herself to share a nice, peaceful moment with Streaky, Kara's cat, before leaving the apartment.

Omen informs Power Girl about the Horsemen's activities across America, but Power Girl has decided to stop running away and face Johnny directly. Johnny brings Power Girl into the Subtle Realms where they can fight without Power Girl harming Johnny's brainwashed slaves. Through the Subtle Realms, Johnny has sensed Power Girl's frustration with herself and can relate to that because he has felt frustrated with himself; that is, until he met her. Johnny sees Power Girl has his tether and anchor, the only thing that allows him to spread his influence throughout the world and has used her connections and relationships to increase his power.

Omen attempts to break the connection between Johnny and Power Girl, but the Piper brainwashes her, forcing Power Girl to fly back to her apartment and come up with a new plan. Power Girl's frustration causes her to punch the mirror in her bathroom, but the psychic explosion of her powers suddenly gives her a vision of her parents and Kal-L, the Superman of Earth-2. For the first time in many years, Power Girl is forced to actually confront her grief about the loss of the people she loved, instead of burying that grief with anger. She is sad that she has lost them but she can't bring herself to forget them because if she does, she would be dishonoring the sacrifices they have made for her. With this realization, Power Girl gains the strength fo fight.

Power Girl, Omen and Catwoman defeat the Horsemen before Power Girl confronts Johnny again. She admits she relates to his own feelings of not belonging anywhere and even kisses him on the cheek, before knocking him out with a punch.

The next day, Omen invites the Super-Family to her apartment congratulate Power Girl for saving the world. Power Girl feels embarrassed but Supergirl tells her to just accept the fact that she has a family. Superman arrives at the apartment and apologizes for not being able to help because he was busy in outer space. Power Girl wants to be part of Superman's Family and admits she will make mistakes, but she wants to keep trying to do better, and Superman accepts her decision. Supergirl even says that Streaky wants to stay with Power Girl.

Later that night, while Omen is asleep, Power Girl comes to the realization that her telepathy is still intact, even after her fight with Johnny. Her psychic powers don't come from her mind, they come from her fists and they can only activate when she throws a punch.

Synopsis for "Fire & Ice in... Hot Water"

Fire and Ice attend to an emergency call from Baltimore. A tidal wave is about to hit the city. Fire is frustrated that they don't get to fight anyone, but Ice is just happy to help people, explaining that Superman tends to natural disasters all the time because it helps him stay human. Although Fire and Ice save as many people as possible, Ice thinks they should call for help. Since Guy Gardner comes from Baltimore, perhaps he could help.

Fire, however, disapproves of that idea. She thinks Guy and Ice have had a complicated history and a meeting between them would be in poor taste. Ice still activates her Justice League communicator and broadcasts a message for help on an open channel. Much to Fire's annoyance, Guy answers the call and tries to show off in front of the bystanders. His arrogance only worsens the tidal wave and Fire angrily attacks him, saying that he is nothing but a bad influence on Ice.

A fight breaks out between them and Ice attempts to stop them, but Fire and Guy refuse to listen until Superman arrives at Baltimore, asking for an explanation. Guy takes his leave, not wanting to listen to a reprimand fom Superman, leaving Fire and Ice to explain the situation to him. Superman asks the girls whether their egos are more important than innocent lives, to which Ice replies that Fire started the fight while Fire replies that she was defending Ice.

Superman ends the discussion by recommending the girls to have a vacation in the one place they can enjoy some peace and tranquility: Smallville.
