I'm sick and tired of him beating up on me, and if going to him's the only way this is going to end, well...
Power Girl #3 is an issue of the series Power Girl (Volume 1) with a cover date of August, 1988.
Synopsis for "Heritage!"
Karen Starr has been attending Mongo Krebs' karate academy for one month, but although she is a quick learner, her master warns she needs focus and discipline. Kara understands, but she doesn't know how to push her mind past her personal problems.
Kara goes back home and picks up her ringing phone, but nobody answers, except for a monster that teleports in her apartment after luring her in. Sick of being harassed Kara fights back and demands answers, but the monster is vey strong, and his powerful spells hurt Kara. However he reveals his master wants her dead because of her connection to Arion. Then he suddenly vanishes. Kara can't deny anymore she is being plagued by some powerful sorcerer.
Weaver observes his handiwork from Darkworld with satisfaction. Then he turns his attention to his minion Force, still imprisoned in Belle Reve, and commands him to awaken, break free and destroy Power Girl.
The next day, Kara goes to a book store specialized in occultism and inquires about books surrounding Arion. She is given a book narrating the last days of Atlantean surface empire and goes to the office. On Starrware Industries, her lawyer Andrew Draper angrily reminds her she missed this morning's board meeting. Andrew got them to agree to postpone it, but Karen may lose her company if she misses the next appointment.
Kara sequesters herself in her office and starts reading her new book, learning about Arion's life and all enemies he slew or banished to Darkworld. Later, Power Girl meets Larry Gonzalez. He informs Force broke out of Belle Reve, and Kara explains she needs to get in contact with a reliable witch.
Kara meets up with Madam Rossili. Rossili listens to her history and hands over an ancient Atlantean amulet which was supposedly touched by Arion himself and should help Kara on her journey. Then Rossili tells she should talk to another sorcerer called Blaine.
Following Rossili's directions, Power Girl flies her way to a remote location and finds Blaine. Blaine is about to send her away when he sees her Atlantean amulet. Enraged, Blaine transforms into his real self and attacks. Now she has been lured into his trap, Weaver talks through Blaine and declares he was banished to Darkworld by Arion millennia ago, and he intends to exact revenge upon her. Then he teleports Force in, and Power Girl realizes all of his agents were magical constructs.
Power Girl fights back but they have the upper hand. Overwhelming her pain, Kara reminds herself Mongo's lessons on keeping her cool and focus. She knocks Blaine down and away and focus her blows on Force. Blaine fires magic blasts at Kara, but she dodges and Force is hit instead. Power Girl observes the magic blasts are shorting out the electrity powering Force, so she throws him at Blaine. The mix of magical and electrical energies makes both constructs explode and return to nothingness.
Right then, the Phantom Stranger approaches Power Girl after watching her battle. He reveals that grudge match between Weaver and herself is part of a greater conflict between the Lords of Order and Chaos. Since a new cycle of Chaos is coming, its forces are trying to undermine forces of Order like Power Girl or himself.
He also explains Weaver isn't powerful enough to destroy Power Girl from Darkworld, so he has been harassing her in order to draw her into his realm. Power Girl refuses to put up with it any longer, so she asks Stranger is he can help her get to Darkworld. Stranger opens a portal to Darkworld and Power Girl flies in.
