The Prism of Power was a synthetic crystal created by the Parasite using the stolen knowledge of numerous scientist victims.

History

The Parasite's objective in making the Prism of Power was to enhance his energy-drain powers to be effective at great distances and to stabilize his bodily integrity against the disintegration caused by power overload. However, it had a structural defect which caused it to distribute stolen life-energies to random individuals with the refraction of light-rays emitted from the Sun or reflected off the Moon through its crystalline lattice. After a chaotic day wherein the Prism distributed Superman's stolen powers to Jon Ross, Jenet Klyburn, a construction worker, and a jewelry shop's guard for a diamond shipment, Superman faced off against the Parasite and snatched the Prism off his person, causing the energies Parasite internalized from the Prism to overwhelm his body and vaporize it.[1] After the Parasite's cells reintegrated back into a coherent form, the villain used the Prism of Power to catalyze the bizarre reaction which created Solomon Grundy on Earth-Two, except this time using supernatural swamp-matter transported by Grundy from Slaughter Swamp on Earth-Two to the Metropolis municipal sewer system on Earth-One. This had the effect of creating an entirely new Earth-One-native Solomon Grundy.[2] In a later battle with the Parasite, Superman grabbed the Prism off his person again and shattered it into shards, removing Parasite's ability to absorb and redistribute energy at long-distance.[3]
