Professor Jenkel was a criminal who was hired to subdue Wonder Woman.
History
Jenkel was paid $300,000 to trap Wonder Woman using a plot designed to get her to walk right into a trap without even noticing it. He started his plan by locating a pair of circus performer twins who looked similar to Wonder Woman and then asked them to try out for film roles by practicing their roles in public. He had Joan Lane get a job with Wonder Woman's known friend Diana Prince and "admit" to Prince that she was Wonder Woman, and Inez Lane dress as Wonder Woman and preform staged "heroic" stunts in public. When the Amazon came to investigate her double she was gassed by the false cameras Inez had been performing for. In the end the Amazon overcame her captor, with a little help from Inez who was embarrassed to have been tricked into aiding criminals.
