Prometheus was a super-villain who swore to destroy justice in any form. His vendetta is a twisted parody of Batman's origin. He was the son of criminal parents and witnessed their deaths at the hands of the police. Years of traveling the world and training made him one of the most dangerous men alive. Throughout his career, he was a threat not only to the law enforcement agencies that killed his parents, but also to superheroes, especially the Justice League. He is infamous for cutting off Roy Harper's arm and destroying Star City, killing Roy's daughter Lian. He had also been a member of the Injustice Gang.
Elements from this character were later adapted into the Arrowverse character Adrian Chase/Simon Morrison.
The original Prometheus was one of the Titans of Myth. He stole fire and gave it to humanity for its benefit. In return, he was punished by Zeus by being chained and having his liver eaten by birds.
Prometheus was created by Grant Morrison and Arnie Jorgensen, first appearing in New Year's Evil: Prometheus #1 (1998). The Greek deity was adapted into the DC Universe by Henry Kiefer, first appearing in New Comics #5 (1936).
