Lady Prudence Ffogg src

Lady Prudence Ffogg is the daughter of Lord Marmaduke Ffogg and an enemy of Batman with a special fondness for Robin.

Prudence visited a school for female thieves operated by her father and aunt at Ffogg Place, which was disguised as a girls' finishing school. Along with her friends Daisy, Duchess Sheila, Kit and Rosamond, Lady Prudence was planning to finish her studies with an M.S. degree ("Mistresses of Shoplifting").

After Lord Marmaduke Ffogg and Lady Penelope Peasoup stole Her Majesty's priceless collection of snuffboxes from the Palace, President Lyndon B. Johnson instructed Batman and Robin to investigate the series of unsolved robberies. When they arrived overseas in England, the Dynamic Duo visited Ffogg's baronial estate along with Superintendent Watson and Barbara Gordon. While showing him around at Ffogg Place, Lady Prudence confessed to Robin that the finishing school is actually a school for criminals, but then made him promise not to reveal the secret to Batman or she would be in big trouble with her father.[1]

Batgirl later began to suspect that Lady Prudence could be playing all sides against each other for reasons of her own. When Barbara went back to Ffogg Place for further investigations, she found the loot from Ffogg's and Peasoup's robberies hidden at the Cricket Pavilion. However, she was seen by Prudence who then used a paralyzing gas to inflict Barbara in a state of temporary paralysis. Meanwhile, Lady Peasoup and the other students captured Robin in Londinium and planned to hold him captive along with Batgirl at the dungeon of Ffogg Place. Lord Ffogg later took Robin to the winch room of the Tower Bridge and tied him to the winch that operates the mechanism that raises and lowers the bridge. Batman and Alfred were able to locate and free Robin with the Anti-Mechanical Batray before the bridge was raised again.[2]

When Robin later arrived at Ffogg Place to free Batgirl, Lady Prudence set a trap for him, causing him to trip over a wire on the lawn that opens the hive of Lord Ffogg's venomous African Death Bees. The queen bee then left the hive and landed directly on Robin's hand. Lady Prudence sadistically explained to him that one sting would cause instant death. When Robin was stung by the deadly bee, Prudence took him back to the Cricket Pavilion to inform her father and aunt. However, Robin was actually able to take an antidote pill in order to save his life and eventually managed to escape through a window. Meanwhile, Batman found Batgirl at the dungeon and rescued her. Batman, Robin and Batgirl later intercepted Lord Ffogg, Lady Peasoup, Lady Prudence and the other students at the Tower of Londinium where they attempted to steal the Crown Jewels. The thieves along with their henchmen were then arrested by Ireland Yard and taken into custody. Before being led away by the authorities, Prudence confessed to Robin that her secret plan was actually to play both sides against each other so she could come out on top and be Her Ladyship of Ffogg Place alone.[3]
