The Punishment Machine is an elaborate torture device housed at Granny Goodness' prison-orphanage on Apokolips.

Whenever one of her child slaves misbehaves (usually by demonstrating acts of virtue, such as creating beauty), Granny has them subjected to the Punishment Machine. Through torture and pain, the device adjusts a subject's behavior, forcing them to embrace the ways of hate and violence. Big Barda and Superman once liberated a female orphan who had been scheduled for torture in the Punishment Machine.
