Brainiac 5 is a member of the Legion of Super-Heroes.
History
An ardent fan of Superman, Brainiac 5 was thrilled at the chance to recruit him into the Legion, though he tried to mask his enthusiasm behind a calm, professional demeanor.
He had a great part as one of the core team members in the series as the team techie and scientist, but could also help in fights by converting into a giant battle mecha. In the second season there was also some affection between him and Shrinking Violet beginning in lightning storm. This resulted after she told him she was a micro-chip expert. Brainiac 5 later became fully organic.
