Quetzalcoatl, the Feathered Serpent, is the Mesoamerican god of life, light and wisdom, wind, clouds and rain.[4]

A long time ago in a town called Tula, the light fought the dark with human hands. The dark worked through a willing holy man, making ritual sacrifices in its name until a stranger[See Notes] appeared, consumed with light. He was a vessel of Quetzalcoatl and loved by everyone except the darkness he vanquished, the shadow god who vowed to return. His name was Tezcatlipoca and their next meeting will be called the apocalypse.

The Morningstar, as Quetzalcoatl is also known as, brought light to his people but, just as they learned from him, he learned the pleasures of the flesh and grew corrupt. Disgusted by his actions, he set fire to his human vessel and took his place among the stars, promising to return when he was needed. His followers preserved his helmet for the war ahead, calling themselves the Q-Society.

Uno (Curt Falconer), the hero known as Aztek, is the latest in a line of true believers dating back centuries. Like his fathers before him, it's his job to keep the helmet safe and provide a fit and healthy vessel for The Morningstar when he returns.[3]

Powers

Weaknesses

  • Power Loss: Similar to other deities, Quetzalcoatl draws greater power from the act of worship. When the number of worshippers diminishes, Quetzalcoatl, along with his power, gradually decline as well.[4]

Equipment

  • Quetzalcoatl Helmet, also known as "Aztek's Helmet".
  • Kulkulkan's Sacred Vestiments/Sacred Armor of Quetzalcoatl: This armor grants the magical powers of the god to its wearer, activated with the sacrifice of a human life.[5]

  • This character or object is an adaptation of Quetzalcoatl, a character or object in traditional stories. These include, but may not be limited to religious texts, myth, and/or folk lore. More information on the original can be found at Wikipedia.org.
  • Although unnamed, it is assumed that the first human vessel of Quetzalcoatl[3] was Ce Acatl Topiltzin, the semi-legendary ruler of the Toltec (pre-Aztec) city of Tula. Topiltzin was also known as "Quetzalcoatl", with whom he was later confused in legend, and was considered the son of Mixcoatl, god of the hunt and war, presumably also an earlier Toltec king (Mesoamerican leaders and high-priests sometimes took the names of the deity who was their patron). This "second Quetzalcoatl" was loved by his people and hated by Tezcatlipoca, who led him into temptation, and legend has it that upon his death, the smoke from his body rose into the sky and transformed into the planet Venus, the Morning Star (in exactly the same way as the eponymous god).
