The Radio Squad was a unit of NYPD officers, including Sandy Kean and Larry Trent, equipped with two-way radios installed in their cars.

History

In the 1930s, radio-dispatched police cars were an exciting new technology, and New York City was among the first cities to adopt it.

Two outstanding officers, Sandy Keene and his partner Larry Trent, served in the NYPD's "Radio Squad" in the late 1930s and early 1940s.

Notes

  • The comic strip in More Fun Comics started with nearly the same name as a popular radio show of the late 1930s called Calling All Cars. The full original title was Calling All Cars, Starring Sandy Kean and the Radio Squad, but by More Fun Comics #19, it was shortened to Radio Squad.
