Ragman: Cry of the Dead (Volume 1) with a cover date of August, 1993.
Synopsis for "Mother Drum"
Ragman (Rory Regan) has relocated to New Orleans and is living above a jazz club. He begins experiencing haunting dreams of his time as a soldier in the Vietnam War. Awakening from one such dream, Rory comes downstairs to enjoy the music. There, he meets a man called Legba and a woman named Zipporah. The two seem to distrust each other, but Rory is attracted to the woman. Elsewhere, a Voodoo ritual is being performed. At the same time, a woman in New Orleans goes mad and murders her own infant child. The spirit of the child is drawn to the Voodoo ritual and briefly takes possession of one of the ritual attendants. The woman in charge of the ritual, a Mambo called Jean Lizotte, banishes the spirit unaware that it is the child's spirit. Later when the police are arresting the mother of the murdered child, the Suit of Souls attempts to attack her of its own volition. Regan is shocked as it has never manifested such an ability in the past. Despite his disgust at the woman's heinous crime, Regan intercedes. He is able to call the suit to himself and save the woman. Later, Ragman confronts a man possessed by some kind of demon-like entity. He is shocked when the entity nearly takes control of the Suit of Souls. He manages to break free, but the man escapes. Rory collapses on a park bench and sleeps there that night. The next morning, when he is walking home, Rory finds a murder victim with the words “jeu d'enfants,” which means “child's play,” scrawled in blood nearby. Rory suspects a connection between the possessed man and the murder.

Notes
- Though she is not named in this story, the Mambo that appears here is seemingly Jean Lizotte, the caretaker of Golem who is identified in Primal Force Vol 1 0. In a flashback in that issue, she is shown to have been murdered.
