Ragman: Cry of the Dead (Volume 1) with a cover date of December, 1993.
Synopsis for "Kanzo! Baptism of Fire!"
The Golem, having just formed from the clay in the Govi, destroys the central pillar of the Ounfò as it is consumed by flames. Rory Regan, Oungan Legba and Mambo Jean Lizotte manage to escape with the still-bound Marinette. The evil Ragman, possessed by the souls of children who have died from violence and neglect and are fueling Marinette, goes to New Orleans to have its vengeance for the children. Rory, Legba and Lizotte realize that the evil Ragman and the escaped souls that had occupied the Suit of Souls must be stopped. Rory agrees to be possessed by another Voodoo Loa so he can fight them. They summon the Loa Ogoun, a warrior and powerful spirit of the forge. Ogoun, like Marinette, can possess a host called a “horse” in Voodoo. Rory becomes Ogoun's horse and sets out to fight the evil Ragman. Meanwhile, the Golem wanders New Orleans. It had always sought a soul, but it now realizes that it had been granted one, seemingly when it sacrificed itself to be trapped in the Suit of Souls.[1] It realizes that it now has its own magic that can allow it to co-exist with the Suit of Souls. It chooses to be a force for good. Soon, Rory confronts the evil Ragman and battles it. The Golem arrives just as Marinette escapes her bonds and battles her.
